TAMS - Cattle Crush

I want to apply for a TAMS II grant for a new cattle crush.

I am able to use CAD and have a farmyard drawing plan completed with the layout of the proposed crush.

Condon Engineering have a sample crush on their website. It happens to be the exact size to fit my site. I have a quote from them for the crush materials.

I want to concrete the pens and race.

Can someone give me some pointers on what I need to do from this point to get the application submitted.

    Thanks.

Hi there. I am considering the same also. Existing crush has past it. I am under 40 so should qualify for the 60 percent grant. I am hoping to keep to crush in the same location. Do I need planning. Also do I need a tank. Only at early stages so have not started the process. Spoke to my ag consultant on it briefly. But I believe its the same process as building a shed.

My reading of the documentation (Animal Welfare, Safety and Nutrient Storage Scheme Terms and Conditions - See Annex B) says you no not need planning permission for the crush. However, you do need detailed drawings and a farm yard plan.

My reading of the the document S137 (Minimum specification for cattle crush, race and enclosure) says that you do need an effluent tank for soiled water run-off. See the section on Drainage Channels.

Remember time is running out for the current tranche. It closes on April 5th.
