Read somewhere that iRadio is actually two different stations, one North and one South. I’m in the North station area and always thought the station covered most of the country but noticed most of the advertisers were in the Northwest area (Donegal, Connacht, part of the midlands). Is that the only difference between the two or are there shows exlusive to each station? Is there a similar thing with Shannonside/Northern Sound, in the Shannonside area myself never understood the relationship between the two stations.

I don't live in an area covered by any of these stations, but I imagine they have a certain amount of unique content for each catchment area and then share the rest of the schedule. There's also 96FM for Cork city and C103 in county Cork.

every show is the same on iradio. the ads are diffenet.

while on Shannonside/Northern Sound the shows are the same apart from breakest lunchtime and news and ads. sometimes they might have a game on northern sound but not on shannonside.

iRadio started out as two separate stations.
i102-104 launched first in the West and North West and then i105-107 launched in the East and North East about 1 year later. They had separate studios in Galway and Athlone. Firstly they closed the Galway studio and moved to Athlone but still ran as two separate stations with no shared programmes. Then they amalgamated as one with the exception of the morning drive programme, finally that became the same meaning iRadio was all the one station.

    This too shall pass.

Always assumed it was 1 station, operates from a building on the left between Longford and Newtownforbes. Think its a furniture shop called the Big Mickey

Like the stuff they play tho

iRadio operate two advertising regions reflecting the two licences held. They operate from Monksland in Athlone.

Shannonside's Longford studio is the other side of the town so I'm not sure what the post above is referring to.

Also secondary studios in Cavan, rebuilt after burning down - https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/ireland/fire-destroys-northern-sound-radio-studios-120426.html

Ocean and C103 both have or had split area opt-outs and I think someone else (KCLR?) also still sells ads in two regions.
