Will powerhosing a patio get rid of weeds, or should weed killer also be applied?

Powerhosing a patio will get rid of weeds but will also probably get rid of the sand between the slabs.

I power washed my patio 2 years ago and as said it blew out a lot of sand from between the slabs. I only re sanded a small area of the patio and the following year this area had the worst weed problem. I'm going to power hose the patio again this year to remove grime etc and this time I'm not going to bother re sanding it.

you can expect some weed growth with just power washing, no sanding

I usually leave it a few weeks after washing and spot treat any weeds that spring up
