What small things that irk you about this country? And why?

Since it’s St Patrick’s day, our national celebratory day, the fu*king yanks always steal the show with their amazing parades. Why can’t we get that much right?

I don’t want to see local farmers and taxi companies parading their business vehicles.

America takes bombast to another level, leave them to it. Nothing wrong with the straw and donkey show here.

That so often when people think about where they live, they try to denigrate it or focus on things that annoy them about it. It is the epitome of begrudgery aimed inwards.

A justice system that has no justice. Lenient sentencing with often no repercussions at all for crime. No deterrent whatsoever. Violent criminals with literally hundreds of convictions walking the streets as free men and women. The poor mouth being listened to by an unaccountable judiciary. Victims and families of victims being kicked to the kerb as criminals get away time and time again. Just so it will all happen again in a never ending cycle of misery and injustice.

Being in a huge international city and seeing people of all crowds and creeds decked out in the tri colour today has made me immensely proud to be Irish and the impact we have made globally. And proud to be born there.

But at home are letting ourselves down badly. Issues such as healthcare, housing, legal system and government overspending are beyond ridiculous resulting in what I see as declining living standards. Every country has issues but ours are mammoth for such a small population.
