My current HTC 1 is due replacement. It has android version 5 which is no longer supported. Its become slow and unreliable.

Looking around, I like the look of the huwaie phones. I don't think I can stretch to the pro but was wondering if the standard p20 or any of the lite models would suit?
I'm not a big user of gadgetry but just a decent phone with reasonable battery. A camera that is reasonable. Current one is 4MP.
I use the general apps like social media, email, revolution etc. No gaming as such or streaming.

Budget could perhaps stretch to around the €400 mark.

I got the p20 pro recently and its fantastc, its outta your price range though.
The normal p20 is probably just outside your range too but i can recommend the mate20 lite as its on a par with the p20 and is €340 in argos sim free, my sister in law got one recently and its decent. Also within budget it the psmart & psmart 2019, both in argis sim free (ive looked at a lot of phones over the last 6 months!!)

You don't seem too concerned about staying up-to-date with the latest Android?
You could also consider the new Moto G7 range. Or even last year's G6 as a discounted price. This only offer 1 android update,. But that probably won't matter too much.

Also if you're not in a mad rush to buy in bricks and mortar then buying online would usually be cheaper.

    Try
    Amazon .co.uk/de/es/fr/it
    honorbuy EU
    eglobalcentral.eu

Take a look at the Samsung S8 on the Eglobal Central EU. Prices at €372 which is within budget and a decent phone at fantastic price. Superior to many budget phones too.

you could get p20 pro levels of camera and a newer more powerful processor (latest snapdragon 855) and an OLED screen for 449 with the mi 9.

amazing phone for the money with a fantastic camera (has zoom and wideangle lenses as well as normal)

Thanks. The p20 lite is one I would look at. It's 279.99 sterling in Argos UK which I can get in NI.

I'm guessing it would be a lot better than my current 7 year old HTC?

I'm no expert and not really tech savvy . As long as it is better than my current one I'll be happy enough. I don't think I could justify spending over 500 on a phone at the moment.

I just seen a review of Honor 10. Can anyone recommend that one ?

the p20 lite is a bit outdated at this point and not worth nearly 300 euro.

the cpu in it is pretty old - it was already around for years before they stuck in it in the p20 lite.

better off getting the honor 10 lite or psmart 2019 - better specs for cheaper.

you mentioned 400 so I gave you a link to a top-of-the-range phone for 450.

the mi 9 is leagues ahead of anything mentioned here.

for 50 over your budget you're getting latest flagship (s10, mate 20 pro) specs and build quality.

honor 10 is ok but again mi 9 kills it and they wouldn't be hugely different in price.

Ok, so after a bit of digging around in the forum and elsewhere, I am now looking at 3 phones.

    Xiaomi mi A2 lite
    Honor 10 lite
    P SMart 2019

Any thoughts on one of those? Currently leaning towards the Xiaomi.
