HP Laptop charging issue

Have a HP laptop a few years; today I'm having a weird issue.
When I am charging it every few minutes the charging stops for a few seconds and then starts again. Laptop isn't being moved when it cuts out.
Basically I don't know if its an issue with my charger, the port or the battery itself.
Is there any diagnosis tool I can run to test the hardware without having to go out to buy a replacement charger or battery that may not resolve the issue

Hp support assistant has a battery health check built in.

Also try your bios hp machines have a battery check in bios usually if it has uefi bios.

    What machine is it?

If it's a machine with a removable battery you could try using it with the battery removed, see if it works normally. And try moving the charger plug in the port to see if it switches off.

Ran the test and it said "Discharging, primary battery: Ok"
    Model is HP 15-af067sa fwiw

Tried that earlier seemed to work fine without the battery, I tried adjusting the charger when it the charging stopped but it made no difference.

    could be

    1. charging port
    2. charger
    3. driver - go to device mgr and uninstall the items in the battery icon and restart

    try 3 first.

if that doesn't fix it then if you can get another charger to test to eliminate the charger.

if it's not that may be the charging port.

Tried this and it seems to have worked; so far anyway. Thanks for all of the replies....if I have any more issues I'll be back
