Block raised beds (garden)

Not sure if this is best suited to the gardening forum or here!

I am having a block shed built and while I'm at it I want to have raised beds built around the perimeter of the garden ...quite a small area.

The intention is to use a standard block, and render the 'external' face and possibly paint. I will then fill the beds with topsoil. I presume I should line the 'internal' face with some sort of membrane as being fairly constantly saturated may cause an issue with the block work / finishes? makes sense?

You would want a Damp proof membrane on the bottom row of blocks to prevent water incress upwards into the wall. And also one at the rear to prevent water incress through the wall. This would be to retain your painted finish.

Id make sure the one at the rear of the wall is a decent gauge DPC and that it extends right down to the bottom and under to minimise water travel up to the block
