Noisy combination cylinder refill

    Hi,

We have a combination hot and cold water cylinder in the hot press as the house has no attic

All outlets in the house, apart from the kitchen cold tap, are pump fed.

Anytime we use a pumped cold feed, the noise it makes when refilling the tank is very loud and lasts a decent amount of time.

Considering the hot press borders the master bedroom, this is not exactly convenient when someone is sleeping

I assume the cylinder uses some sort of ball valve and the noise is it reducing the flow into the tank as it fills up as the noise get worse as it fills

Is there anything I can do to quieten it down? I'm not particularly handy when it comes to plumbing so a simple solution would be ideal but in general just wondering what it would take.

    Thanks!

Replace the standard filling valve (ball-cock) with a FluidMaster Pro-75B. (It must have a brass threaded piece).
That will be the end of the problem. I fit them in these type of water tanks quite regularly and the people are delighted with them.

    Thanks for replying!

Is it easy enough to access it?

I can see where the mains feed connects to the tank but I cannot see how I can get a hold of the valve inside the tank. I can't get a view of the top without removing the shelving in the hot press but I assume it is up there somewhere?

Just curious though, how much do you charge to do it? I feel it might be best if I leave it to the professionals!
