Adding a radiator

    Hi there,

I have a query in relation to adding a new radiator. My front porch area (which was an extension added before I bought the house) has no radiator, and it's quite cold (even after updating the front door). The rest of the house heats very well, but I think this area draws the heat from the adjoining kitchen and sitting room. When I moved in last year, I put down new floors in the hall/porch, so in hindsight, I should have looked into this before putting down these down.

The kitchen radiator is quite close - it's under a window which is next to the porch extension. Is it possible to connect to this through the external wall, rather than under the floor? I know it depends on a number of factors, but any idea of a ballpark figure for this?

For info, it's a semi-detached with gas heating.

    Thanks.

Whilst you will leak heat from current heated zone to the porch, a radiator in the porch will leak more rapidly to outside (given the higher temp difference /probable more draughty area)

Instead. If you compensate for the current leakage by upping heat in the existing area ( assuming the leakage to hall is making the existing too cold) it will cost less in heating bills than adding an extra radiator in a little used area.

And save you the cost of installing an extra radiator
