why does it seem a rare event when i look over the internet for possible solutions. or if its even been caused by the lightening.

incident 1, happened about 2 yrs ago, lovely thunder and lightening, we watched it with amazement. everything was unplugged.
turned on the sky box a few days later to find nothing recorded, and then realised the second feed from dish was dead. did everything to test this even tried different ports, ended up swapping the LNB for a new one to solve the problem.

incident 2, last night woke up to thunder and lighening, not bad but still went and unplugged everything. got up this morning, both feeds from the dish are dead. powered down checked on cables, and powered up, did this a few times. nothing. the signal boxes are all blue. I just hope now its a quad LNB or something and ill try another output.

is this rare? how come ill ring my neighbours now and none of them will have this issue.

ok I have sucked Sky for 15 yrs for 50% off and 40% etc. but there is no need to retaliate with this nonsense, especially with a small boy in the house with no tv, and its a rotten cold Saturday for a ladder. :pac::)

Lightening can do odd things to electronics and it doesn't have to be a direct hit. There is a lot of static in the air during a thunderstorm and when it finally sparks, it can effect circuits over a distance and without direct contact. You could just be unlucky to have had it happen twice.

I once had a lightening flash directly overhead that blew two landline telephones in the house and even started up a talking kids toy that was stored in the attic.

That was a scarey one, a low childs voice in the attic saying that it wanted to play with me.... I have to admit being a bit freaked out going through the attic with a torch trying to find which black bag the creepy voice was coming from.

Top tip..... make sure batteries are removed from any items stored in the attic.
