    My son is looking at opening a new account, he is 16.
    Does he still need the same ID and personal details as normal account to open?

    If we opened an account with you;
    • does he pay any fees?
    • what benefits does BOI offer?
    • does he still get a debit card/atm card?

    Thanks IJS84 for reaching out to us today.

    Your son can open a student account with us, this can be opened online and there's the option to open a second level or third level student account. The second level account may suit best.

    Yes, your son can request a Visa debit within the application and will not incur any transaction fees. The application can be completed online here and you it also lists the account benefits and features.

    You can complete the online application on behalf of your son using your ID to open the account.

    Hope the information helps,

    Many thanks
    Alison
