Pps card

    Hey guys,

Hopefully this is the right place for my question. I've got a pps number about to expire. Since I informed my pps number for my new employer, I started to wonder what can happen if I don't get a new pps card on time. Do I still get my wages just the same or will they be put on hold until I get a new one? Plus, do I have to all the way there to get a new one or can I just order a new one online?

    Thanks for the help.

I presume you're not Irish? A PPS number does not expire.

I'm not. I know the number won't ever change but I was wondering if sth can happen if the card expires. I mean, why would the card expire if nothing happens, right?

As mentioned, the PPSN does not expire. You'll have it til the day you close your eyes.

If your public services card expires then you just have to renew it. All that means is that the card itself isn't valid. Nothing actually happens if it expires.

The card lasts for seven years. Not really sure why it has an expiry date but I suppose it cuts down on cards being used fraudulently in some way.

Thanks wiggle. I'll renew it anyways, just in case. My guess is that the face in the pic can change over the years. Can't see other reason why one has to renew it. But you guys have been really helpful. Thanks a mil
