    Hi all,
Over time, our reception of RTE 1 has dwindled from normal to intermittent and now entirely blank; RTE 2 and RTE News Now are fine. Anyone any ideas?

    regards

There are two different groups of channels called Multiplex (Mux) 1 and 2. Confusingly RTE 1 is on Mux 2 and RTE 2 is on Mux 1.

Some other people here have reported the same problem as you, and it is almost certainly due to not enough signal getting to your aerial on the Mux 2 frequency. So an improved aerial set up should help. I get them from Clermont Cairn in Louth, and the signal strength is not the same on both. A very small change can result in a perfect picture changing to non existent.

If the signal has deteriorated over time I would look at readjusting the aerial in the attic initially to see if you can find the optimum signal for the 2 frequencies. Also check your connections from the TV to the aerial, a bad connection can affect 1 frequency over another.

Has anything changed in the attic over time that could have an effect on the reception of the signal?
