I recently completed True Detective Season 3 and Punisher Season 2... and I'm watching The Orvile at the moment, but I'm craving a bit of a "large story arc" series to check out next.

I tried Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol, but just lost interest.

So far the following interest me...

    - Mr Robot

    - Penny Dreadful

    - Bates Motel

which of these have the most engaging story?

Never heard of it, but I'll add it to the backlog.

In the meantime I'll check out the pilots of the American ****e and see if any take my fancy :)

It's four series, 23 hours of material about police internal investigations unit. Very complex but full of twists and turns Jed Mercurio is a dab hand at throwing audiences off the scent

I've only seen Mr Robot and Penny Dreadful.

    Mr Robot is very good.

    Penny Dreadful is exactly that.

Saw the pilot for Mr Robot ... reckon that's a go-er for the next while, then will check out Bates Motel.

While I'm on the subject of TV series in general, is Gotham any good?

Yeah really enjoyed the first 2 seasons. Found it just got a bit ridiculous after that but was good for something to zone out to and enjoy

Mr. Robot is ok. Penny Dreadful not so much... Can't speak of Bates Motel.

Line of Duty however, is excellent, binge worthy material! Cast your net a little wider whydoncha... You might surprise yourself

Mr. Robot is good enough, not for everyone as it’s slow enough moving. I haven’t seen the others.

my vote would be for Mr.Robot but you should also check out the recent series Counterpart
the plot is about a cold war between 2 parallel worlds that diverged in the 80's starring the brilliant J.K.Simmons

Easily Bates Motel, it starts off fairly good. Takes a few episodes to fully get into it, but series after series it just keeps getting better. Binged it all in a pretty short spell as it was so good. Norman & Norma are played brilliantly.

Jealous of you having it all to watch for the 1st time!

Haven't seen Bates Motel, but the first season of Mr. Robot was excellent, second season was really poor in comparison and I never went back for season 3.

Penny Dreadful is excellent but for a certain audience, it's pretty schlocky but the production values and cast are very good.

If Doom Patrol and Umbrella Academy don't interest you, Penny Dreadful likely wouldn't either though.

yeah it's odd as normally I'm up for those kind of series.

I loved Legion for example, plus The Punisher was great, plus I'm enjoying The Orville.

Doom Patrol I pretty much fell asleep, and Umbrella Academy was decidedly meh for me :/

I'm not really in the mood for an investigative series just yet... more interested in the genres which those three I mentioned cover (horror / suspense)

Also as I work in IT I think Mr Robot is probably must-see anyway.

I have a few seasons of American Horror Story to see as well...

Mr. Robot of those. First season is excellent, second is OK and third, for me, was a big improvement. It actually portrays IT in an accurate way so it's gotten a lot of kudos from the techies. Rami Malek is strong in it although the plot is indeed slow and sometimes vague for the sake of it.

Penny Dreadful isn't great. Watched two seasons and wasn't bothered with the third. It's getting a spin off though.

Bates Motel is enjoyable. Some great acting from the two leads and it ended very strongly.
