    Hi,

Does anyone know who the voiceover artist is for the Skoda, Bluebird Care, Wiltshire Farm Foods ads is?

He’s god damn awful with his low smooth delivery. I just want to throw the radio as far away as I can.

Brian de salvo is the voiceover for all the Skoda adds.

I never understand how companies overlook a local voice and try to sell to their customer's with an English accent.

Always makes me think that the company was just too cheap to localize the ad.

There are a few voices that crop up regularly in Ireland. One fellow in particular has done tens of thousands of advertisements. He can do a big range of accents, as you'd expect, but he said in a interview that companies ask for a similar style to another ad they heard and liked. The most popular version is that smooth baritone with the anglo/neutral accent. Once you notice it, you will hear it everywhere!

He was a goalkeeper in his day.

He used to do a radio column on their old League of Ireland coverage.

He was a big fan of Pat Devlin (Bray Wanderers former manager) IIRC.

Pretty sure the ad in question is localized, even with the neutral accent.

Some of the regulars are good actors like Barry McGovern. His voice is so familiar from ads, it's a bit disconcerting when you hear him "in the flesh" on the stage.

I quite like his voice, cadence and timbre.

I can’t stand his delivery. Every ad he does is nauseating.

Bill Golding is the King - Rory from Wanderly Wagon.... Auld Mister Brennan....

He's the classy voice used when an upmarket artist is coming to the Three Arena etc.

    What a voice....what delivery.

Some of those Fair City actors stealing a living could learn a thing or two about delivering a script from that man.

At least Phelim Drew seems to have disappeared for a while. Him and the guy that used to do the VW radio ads who kinda speaks to a tune really annoy me.

+1 I believe he's known in the business as the 'one take man'. Reads over the script in his head, has been told the expected duration and usually delivers the goods on the first take.

De Salvo was one of the first people in Ireland to be an accredited soccer coach.

He is a local, lives in Ireland and has done for many years.

I thought this exact same thing. Old man english voice is horrible.

The smugness of his skoda ad..."There's a 0% chance of getting discovered while singing in the shower" etc.

Is he the same chap that did the Petmania adverts?
