This is the much mooted “Sky over IP” service which has been talked about for ages. Only it appears to be more a replacement for Now TV (which Sky Deutschland calls “Sky Ticket”) than for the satellite service. It’s offering a selection of Sky owned channels along with Austrian and German terrrestrial channels. What’s different from Now TV? Well instead of a rebranded Roku unit, the hardware is very similar in appearance to Sky Q.

For those that can read German:

There’s some divergent views - this article http///www.digitaltveurope.com/2019/03/05/sky-austria-launches-streaming-offering-sky-x/)paints it as definitively a replacement for Now TV while this one (http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2019/03/04/sky-without-cable-or-satellite-sky-x-launches-in-austria/ is more of talk of it replacing satellite. However, unlike Sky Q but like NowTV, it appears Sky X can’t record.

Underwhelming not to mention over priced. Also seems to be available via PS4 etc just like NOWTV so nothing too fancy involved, the box is likely just a large plastic case for a processor to maintain SKY look & feel. I assume it is 1080 vs NOWTV 720 but at that it's hard to justify an extra 5 for what amounts to the ent pack @ 19.99 and does anyone actually pay full wack for NOWTV in the Netflix & Primvideo era? I'd suggest it's price will drop but then people just seem to love giving SKY money for old rope!
