Do ye think the desire for thanks significantly distort what people post? For myself i used to think the desire for thanks would not influence me, but a recent off the cuff smart one-liner post of mine has garnered 58 thanks so far, and i am so tempted to spam after hours with borderline edgy one-liners in perpetuity

What do you say we completely mess with the OPs head by thanking the second post until it gets more than 58 thanks. :-)

Usually a post comes up on the first page of a thread that sums up how you feel about a subject and you thank it

You start at 58 then you're Jerry Smith staring at the screen all night long just so someone you don't know and will never know responds to your eternal need for attention be that thanking it or criticising it.

I'll thank some post not always because I agree with them, but because sometimes they are daring or vulgar, & I get a bit of a giggle from reading them

Being able to delete things is pretty important. I've deleted posts many times if I thought I was being mean or worded it badly.

I don't respect anyone who thanks my posts - they're just sycophantic boot-lickers in my view.
