Used MK6 Golf DSG - Things to watch out for?

    Looking at a used 2012 MK6 Golf with DSG, a 1.4tsi model.

Are there any major concerns I should look out for? The car is clean and didn't notice anything on close inspection of the car, it's a japanese import, so a bit wary in terms of maintenance intervals on the gearbox and engine as to whether they've been completed. Dealer is offering a years warranty.

I know there was issues with the DSG box on earlier versions, is this still something to be concerned about?

In terms of the TSI engine, anything to look out for in terms of chain etc?

Check what motor tax is on it, being a Japanese import it may not have the same CO2 rating as the European version. The DSG box needs regular oil changes, if this hasn't been done you could run in to problems over time, unlikely there will be any verifiable service history on the car to proove this either way. The in-car entertainment system/radio will likely be changed as original would be no use being in Japanese, this may sacrifice some features on the original head unit not being available. Car may not have an immobiliser so will be a target for theft and could be troublesome to insure. Personally I wouldn't touch one unless I got it for about 40% less of a similar Irish/UK version as resale will be rubbish.

Cheers, going up to view it again tomorrow and look at the auction sheet and see if there's any service book etc, the head unit is aftermarket anyways so only thing is the radio doesn't have the correct frequency, and I've a double din unit from a previous car anyways. Has an immobiliser, and emissions are the same as the EU models.

Mileage isn't suspiciously low and the condition of the car matches it, starting offer was 9k plus my 07 320i, was hoping to get him down to closer to 8k but not sure if it's worth the gamble.
