    Hi Guys

Wondering if anyone can help - I've bought a car in the UK that I'm looking to bring over next weekend and I'm wondering what documents etc. do I need to have to get it properly registered over here? The car is a Sept 2016 car so I think I also need a Certificate of Compliance as well - can anyone advise on this or is there a checklist someone could direct me to?

    Many thanks

    RP

You need the full v5c, the invoice if any (strongly preferred), ferry ticket if applicable and the relevant VRT form. If you do not get the full v5c you are in for a world of hurt. Look at the sticky thread on buying in the U.K.

You need the UK V5 doc
1 hardcopy bill or bank statement, or credit card statement, bring a second just in case
    Passport or driving licence
Proof of PPS number, ie payslip
Receipt for the car, if you didn't get it from the dealers, make one yourself
    Ferry ticket
print and fill out the online form for importing the car
Big wad of money to pay the hoors

You need a bank statement/utility bill, ID, PPS number, VRT form. You don’t need a ferry invoice because you bought from the North

What if you bought the car in the North privately and it is actually on English Reg plates and not North ones ?

Makes no difference what plates its on, the previous owner will be on the V5C so they'll know where you got it from.

Sorry i should have said - as regards a shipping / ferry ticket , they will be looking for one ?

I’ve been told that if you buy a UK reg car privately in NI you might need a ferry invoice. Is the registered owners address on the logbook a NI address or UK address?

I’ve VRT’d UK cars with a NI invoice with no shipping document but it was a garage invoice so slightly different

Only if the registered owner is mainland UK, no questions asked when I registered car bought privately in NI.

if you can show you bought a GB registered car in the North, then you don't need a ferry ticket. Your receipt will need to show an NI address obviously. You could assemble additional evidence in the form of a garage receipt for petrol or similar, can do no harm.

The ferry ticket is simply to show date of import. It's not actually a requirement to produce a ticket, just a handy way to prove date of import.
