Hi everyone. I have a question. Is there an open air car market in Ireland, where people sell their own cars for cash. Just like when farmers organise open air markets and sell their fruit, vegetables. Is there something like that in Ireland?

Wouldn't work in Ireland as someone would buy an absolute shed and would then sue the organiser of the market.

So there are no such open air markets organized even by the state?
For example: The government has a territory where all people who have cars can come and sell them for cash?

    Is there something like that?

Lol. The Government is hardly going to encourage black market type activity where cash changes hands without tax being paid on any profits made. There is plenty of that going on already on the likes of donedeal.

Why on earth would the state involved with something like that?

    Sad but true.

Most people don't actually realise how many events in this country are non-runners from the very start because of the compo brigade and their ambulance chasing solicitors.

Can you give an example of anywhere in the world where a government organises such an event?

They are popular events in Poland for instance. Typically hosted by the municipality government.

Hosted by I assume to mean at a municipal venue? But who is responsible for the sales and liability?

Probably a notary or a government body if it is like my home place. if owner is in arrears for motor tax or car have finance on it , sale would be blocked until owner sort those out . You also pay nicely for the service to notary and state. :D

Process in Ireland is super easy and free but open to misuse in my humble opinion. Do I love it? yes! :D

Open air car supermarket idea died with online ads. I can't see why one would like to visit one when all the cars are already one click away in your sofa.

How would something like this differ from something like a car auction?
