    Hi,

I was in Leipzig Germany over the xmas period, and I noticed a massive area next to the train station with dozens of Electric Vehicles on charge all with the same branding.
They seem to be offering a taxi/hackney ride share service in the city area only, and they are in multiple German cities.

    Strange set up includes:

You SHARE your taxi with others who are going roughly the same way (ride share)

You can only use the service during limited hours (daytime-not morning rush hour) -most cities 9am until 4am (no service 4am to 9am), some cities evening only. It varies by city and drivers may have shifts, they may expand hours later.

This seems strange that the service is not available at peak morning times. They seem to use EV mini-busses with drivers, but also have a massive amount of Nissan Leafs and fast and slow chargers. Fast chargers at end of row, slow chargers for each vehicle. They also seem to reverse in to the chargers and coil the cable from the front of vehicle to the charger at the rear.

They seem to be based inside the same building as the main city train station, which is also a small shopping centre and underground (tube) train station too. Ideal pick up point, but I don't think they use taxi type ranks. They work via dedicated app and seem to promote the green ECO side of things.

Drivers were hanging around in the cars and in a little office.

    Would it work in Dublin?

€4.29 for a 5.9km ride. Taxi drivers would block that.

Today, in Dublin, to book a taxi to do the same distance would cost €14.20 - €18.60 according to the TII website.

What would the equivalent in Germany be? You’re comparing apples with oranges. There’s a subway in most German cities so taxis are cheaper
