A friend of mine is in an abusive relationship which she plans to leave. She uses an iphone & has to uninstall Skype after every conversation. Her partner checks her phone.

Any ideas ? I am an android user so no knowledge of ios.

Sorry to hear about your friend’s situation Discodog.

If her phone is iPhone 5s or newer, and if it has been updated to run iOS12 sometime in the past couple of months, then Apple have now moved the ability to hide apps into the “Screentime” functionality,so you have to be running the Screentime feature to do it.

What would worry me is that somebody so controlling might notice that Screentime has been turned on if they are really obsessively taking notes as they probe her phone. If they just look through the app list then it should be safe enough. Also I think that Screentime is turned on by default during the software update from iOS11 to iOS12,so that might work out favourably as well- the less changes the better.

This site has details on hiw to do it in iOS12 and in iOS11 or older if they are running an older version

Hope this helps and that your friend gets out of there ASAP.
