Appointments made on scale

    Hello
I’ve seen a role advertised in a civil service body
The scale is quite wide 58-88k and it’s says ‘payment will be made on scale’
Does that mean you have to start at the bottom or how does it work ?
I’d have significant work experience and would be close to the higher end of the scale currently. How do I handle the salary question at interview ?
    Thank you for any advice

I could be wrong, but i think you start at the bottom of the scale. it should say it in the job spec.

    Thanks for your quick response
It just says ‘payment will be made in scale’

I've applied for a few, they all said they started at the bottom. I could be wrong as you seem to be going in at senior level. Maybe someone else has more experience from that side of things.

If you're coming from outside of the CS/PS then you go in at the bottom of the scale. People moving from within the system go in at wherever they currently are on the scale.
