Tyre replacement - sourcing & fitting

I have 01 Yaris with low thread & possibly needing tracking, I got alloys for it last year with worn Tyres and thread is very low on inside.

    NCT in 2 weeks.

I’ve been quoted €45/wheel (sourced & fitted) and tracking at €50 so €230.

Would it be better value to source the tyres myself, I presume though the majority of cost is in the fitting? And would a garage fit 3rd party tyres?

Not worth the hassle IMO. Any potential savings will be wiped out by the garage fee for fitting the tyres.

45 euro per tyre is ridiculously cheap  (what size is the tyre?). Tracking is a bit spicy through, that car only has toe adjustment at the front. I would expect to pay at most 40 euro for tracking.

Between sourcing the tyres, getting them shipped to you, finding a garage that is willing to fit them (not many out there), and loading the tyres into your car etc... Just let the Tyre shop handle it.

I don't see you saving much if any money on buying tyres for a Yaris online and then paying someone to fit them.

Have you shopped around, what brand tyres are you being offered? €45 for a tyre even on a Yaris is not very expensive if they are a decent brand.

As the others have said, it’s just not worth it as the margins aren’t there.. after all the hassle you might be looking at a saving of 20 quid.. or you may not even be able to do it any cheaper than that as the garage gets trade prices, has some tyres already in stock etc..

IMO only worth doing that if it’s a large diameter high performance car and your looking for really high end tyres

I'd shop around. The last place I went included free tracking when you buy 4 tyres. Online is only really good if your car take an expensive size or you want a specific brand.

Tracking seems expensive, I'm paying €30 for it today alongside purchasing two new fronts

I got 2 fronts(16s) at €65 each plus tracking for €150 total just last weekend.

And it was a pain to free/adjust the back right, they spent plenty of time working on it until all readings were green on the machine.

You'd think they'd have a better rate for tracking when you're buying 4 tyres, unless they're doing a fantastic deal on the tyre brand/size!

When it comes to common tyres for cars like this, it's better just go with local garage.
If you want better or performance tyre it's always better buying online and finding someone to fit them.

Shop around for actual branded tyres. Yaris tyres are cheap anyway, you don’t have ABS, so please don’t put crap on there. If you go into a place and ask how much 4 tyres are, you’ll usually end up with Chinese no name rubbish.

I'd also expect them to knock something off the price of tracking if your buying 4 tyres off them too.
