Absurd idea tbh, how the hell are they going to get a DNA database of every single dog in the country?

They're not gonna spend all that cash on DNA sequencing dog **** realistically.

Great idea, we have beds shortage in hospitals but teh Greens want to piss money up against the wall DNA testing dog ****e

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic

Have they any idea how expensive DNA lab testing actually is?

    Morons.

    Would be a ruff job

They'd be barking mad to implement the idea

Not that I need it, but another reason not to vote for the green clowns.

would make for a great episode of CSI.

We've had CSI: Miami and CSI: Las Vegas

Now - CSI: Naas. ...it could follow the gardai as they try to discover who's dog has been ****ting in everyone's front garden around here.

No need for DNA testing, just employ people to taste test

We have tons of laws about this already. No enforcement.

    Lack of bins also.

What exactly is done with the dog licence money?

Both councillors said dog dirt is the biggest issue raised when they are canvassing voters and has been since before the last local elections were held in 2014.

I have a hard time believing this.

I have a feeling it doesn't bring in a fortune.

So let's see if I can follow the logic of this...

    1) When chipping a dog you add a DNA sample to the database (we all know that 100% of dogs are chipped, it is mandatory and RIGOROUSLY enforced )
    2) When dog poo is tested for DNA at considerable expense there is a slim chance they get a hit from the database (I'd have higher odds winning the Euromillions for 3 consecutive weeks)
    3) They issue the fine and add the cost of the DNA test to the fine.

Tests where they don't get a hit, ie 99.999999999999999999999% of them, the tab is picked up by the money pixies or something, yeah?

Am I crazy or would a sniffer dog not be a good idea?

Mr Costello said the DNA testing of dog poo has worked well and is being continued by Barking and Dagenham Council in London.
This reads like something you'd see on the first of April. If only they had said Dogenham.

    CSI: Naas
Why do they want the Catholic Scouts of Ireland to do it?

Going to fund the new Children's hospital, apparently.

But what if ..................... the sniffer dog was the culprit?
He would just throw his handlers off the scent I suppose.

Perhaps the dog dirt raised was when it was deservedly flung at the Greens?

Might be coming if Claire Byrne has her wicked way.
Not before time. Bloody minefield out there.

Well it's not going to work. How are they going to collect the DNA in the first place?

However, the state of our pavements and public parks is a disgrace.

It'll be a minority of dog owners. But a sizeable one.

    Stupid idea.
Any owners seen leaving dog crap and walking away should have their noses rubbed in it.

It's the law that your dog is chipped. Might be easier to police that, like checkpoint's or something.

Dogs are dirty idiots. People complain about cats but at least the cats got the decency to cover up and hide their mess.
Feic, even most people won't cover up and hide it if they got to go outside.
Breed cats to be the size of dogs and let them hunt the idiot dogs.
And let them hunt people too.
