    Hi
I want to replace an old bell box with an external sounder. I think I have worked out how to wire the new but thought if I could get an installation manual it would help. I replaced the panel my self in about 2005 it is not monitored by any company. Thanks for you reply I was unaware that the manuals were unavailable to the public although I was unable to find one on the internet.

Usually new bells will come with installation diagrams but if not please post up what connection you are having an issue with, plus the bell you are connecting.

Boards.ie do not allow sharing manuals here. Most manufacturers or installers would be able to help you out with this.
If you post up what external bell you are using we should be able to post up the connections required.

TAMP RTN, one leg of resistor, connect cable with other leg together into terminal block, cable back to panel tamper return .
BELL TR -, External Bell -
    SUPPLY +, External bell +
    SUPPLY -, BHO
    STROBE -, Int -

    Hi
If you could confirm for me the following connections on the panel

Tamper return to Tamper Return at the panel. The resistor is wired in series here.
BELL TR (This is Bell Trigger) > External Bell -
    SUPPLY + >External bell + or Aux +
SUPPLY - >BHO (Bell Hold Off)
    STROBE -> Int - (Internal Bell -)

    Hope this helps.

Can the bell be unused with that wiring method?

You need the bell wired to activate

Sorry i dont get what you mean.

I wire them differently so they bell can be unused in case of a fault. A call out to a faulty bell at 3 in the morning is avoided if it can be unused from the keypad. Just curious about the standard wiring is all.

If external bell output triggers then the bell activates, standard wiring of a external bell.

You wire in different outputs to do probably the same?

Dont use tamper return. Wire through the tamper swtich and use as a zone.
