    Hey all do you need evidence of civil status if your an Irish citizen when registering marriage?

    when registering to get married, the registrar usually tell you what documentation you need, your birth cert is definitely needed, if you are divorced you will need to produce your divorce papers, and if you are a widow/widower you will need documentation for that, which i presume would be your wife/husband death cert,

    If you mean do you need evidence of freedom to marry in order to serve your notice of intention to marry, then it depends. They can ask for this proof of anyone. If you were born abroad or lived abroad for a significant period, they would be more likely to ask of it. It is up to the judgement of the person you are dealing with.
