    I bought a 2016 Audi A6 Sline from the UK, I don't have a Sat Nav dvd.

Where is the best place to get one and roughly how much am I looking at for it?

They don't have sat nav maps from dvd. Audi use a SD card system for the sat nav maps.

You should be able to buy the SD Cards on ebay though (just make sure you get the right versions for the spec you have and buy from a reputable seller). I did this when I got my 2010 A6 and brought it up to 2017 with various software patches and updates for the MMI as well.

Simple enough process if you follow the instructions and take your time - cost me about €100 as I recall.

Whats the best way to check which type of sd card I need? Thanks

It takes the normal size SD card that would fit into a lap top

Try to log in at myaudi.com (or something similar) and depending on your radio/sat nav unit you should be able to download latest maps. You will need to save it on a memory card and load to your car's sat nav.
I did this recently to upgrade maps in my Passat and no problem at all (used vw website to download maps).
    Hope this helps.

Half the SD cards on ebay are fake, buy direct from Amazon and not an Amazon third party seller either.

    Audi sell them for €30

Thanks for the help, if the are only 30Eur I will contact Audi today.

I called Audi Cork and they said the cost is 345Eur for sd card and installation. I have a work collegue that has a 152 A6 with an sd card, I am going to borrow it this evening to see if it works on mine and then I could look at amazon or third party for one myself.

Has anyone any good recommendations for where to source one of these apart from the Audi dealers?

    Thanks

It tells me the number of satellites found and asks to add sat nav disk

The Audi maps will never match up to Google Maps which is available via Carplay or Android Auto. I have the same car but an A4, I'll never look to update the maps while I have a smartphone.

Have to agree . Google maps also take Eircode. Don't know about data use when abroad though.

While roaming in an EU country, you can use part of your home data allowance without incurring extra charges. This is thanks to the EU parliament. My mobile plan gives me 6GB of data when I'm abroad. I used google maps via carplay a lot in the UK last year on holiday, and never went anywhere near reaching that cap.

If you have to spend money then look at retrofitting android auto or apple carplay. It's a minefield though and I'd look for a good installer that knows what they are at and will stand over their work. I don't find the audi mmi great to be honest, it's a little outdated. We have a 2014 a6 c7 so probably the same as you. Video below. I want to do it but haven't looked fully into it yet. We will be keeping car 5 years more anyway so worth the few hundred I think.
Loads of videos and discussions on various forums about this

If you go onto any of the VAG owner forums I'm sure you will find plenty of threads on how to update the maps for small money.
