NCT question

THe Nct is out on my car since june 2018 , i got it tested about july last year and it failed on a few small things , as the car is rarely used ( I drive a bike most of the time) i didnt get it tested again even though all the repairs were done promptly.
My question is if i get it tested in the next few weeks is it only valid until june 2019 ??
I have been told if i wait till closer to june the test will be valid for the year. is there any truth in this ?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

I do realise that an out of date nct is not legal and to drive without one is breaking the law .

that's pretty much the case I think, within 3 months before due date anniversary, you'll get a year from that date. Not sure what effect it will have it being a re-test

Won't be a retest as after 28 days it would be a full test

If it's within 90 days of the test date you should get the year plus the 90 days otherwise the test date would move to the date of the test.

If it fails get it fixed and retested. An idle unused car will only breed problems if not used

it won't be a re-test in the normal sense, but according to their computer it has already failed, so I was suggesting that might have some bearing on how long a cert you would get.
