So we have public accessible WiFi in work and a coding groups uses it once a month but they have trouble with the connection once more that 4/5 laptops connect. I've checked the signal with two separate laptops and the strength is full (AP is in the room) but both report connecting on 802.11g which I understand is a pretty old standard. The AP is capable of broadcasting at 802.11a/n: 5.150–5.250, 5.250–5.350, 5.470–5.725, 5.725–5.850 802.11b/g/n: 2.400–2.483
I presume the newer standards would work better but then again I assumed the AP would broadcast at all bands and the connection would be dependent on the WiFi card in each device. I know the cards in the laptops can connect higher than 802.11g.
    Thanks for any input.

I'll double check but I'm almost certain both cards are set to auto operate on maximum.

I've set all the adapter options to use the highest protocols but still getting connection reporting as below. Is it possible the APs have been set to only operate on 802.11g?

Not familiar, but appear there is possibility to force setting per AP/per SSID/per profile. See if set correctly.
See if any use on their video library

I managed to get our networks to check and the APs were limited to G. Now broadcasting on 802.11n so should hopefully see improvement
