Hyundai i30 (2011) issues..

    Hi all,

Basically, the issue is this.. originally, when accelerating somewhat heavily in 3rd-6th, going onto a slip lane for example, between 1800rpm - 2000rpm there was a harsh vibration/ loud noise that would occur. This would stop as soon as you passed the 2000rpm mark.

Pressure plate was replaced in the clutch, thought the issue was fixed... but the vibration moved and started at 2000rpm - 2200rpm.

So far the garage has ran a diagnostics, changed a plate that’s between the clutch and engine (not sure what it is) checked the DPF, the entire exhaust system, the turbo, engine mounts etc and yet STILL cant pinpoint the issue. So now, they’re going to bring it to a main Hyundai dealer and see what they’ve got to say. The dealer I purchased the car from is telling me they reckon it’s something loose, rather than drivetrain related. But this doesn’t make sense as when the pressure plate was replaced it went from the 1800rpm mark to 2000rpm. This would indicate to me it’s mechanical..

I’m hoping this main dealer can source the issue but has anybody has this problem?!? I’m getting so frustrated. It doesn’t happen in idle, is not dependent on cold/ hot and is not dependent on speed, only the engine speed and 3rd-6th gear.

    Thanks in advance.

To follow on... as I don’t have the car right now to record the issue, it’s in the garage...

This.. https://youtu.be/jHfTtLFJlK0 is probably the closest I could find on YT.

Know exactly what you are talking about the wife's getz has it very common in Hyundai it's usually the engine or a gearbox mount low speed in high gear really shows it up

Really?! Well I’m glad to know it’s a definite issue as the mechanics are trying to tell me “it’s normal” 🀔. But it is going to a main dealer on Tuesday so I’m really really hoping they find the issue out.

It’s more so noticeable from 3rd - 6th and say I accelerate from 1600rpm, it pulls and as soon as it hits 2000rpm it vibrates massively along with a loud noise.

Is it something to worry about? Will it cause further damage? Thanks in advance.

Definitely not normal and u noticed it won't do any damage revving the car bit longer before gearchanges helps a bit but it spoils the refinement of the car

As the ratio of RPM changed once the pressure plate was installed, I had a feeling it was clutch/ gearbox related.

I’m hoping the main dealer has dealt with this before and knows what to do/ what it is! As you say, revving the engine a bit longer will sort it technically, but it spoils refinement and economy so.. it’s a lose/ lose lol. But thank you for the help! At least I know it may be more common than I think.
