Curious will we see new EVs at the Geneva Motor Show in two weeks time?

Will the new VW Neo ID be there? :)

New Honda Urban EV is going to debut, but if the spy shots are anything like the real thing it has lost a lot of the charm the concept had. No flared wheel arches, no big wheels, 5 door instead of 3, aggressive looking headlamps are gone. I've a feeling it'll look more like a Seat Ibiza in the flesh.

It is no accident that Tesla suddenly make a huge announcement just before Geneva....

A lot of major car manufacturers seemingly have pulled out this year, cost was too high but VW are at it. I would guess VW plan was to have a huge announcement and unveiling of the ID Neo....they mentioned reservations in Q1 2019 so that was probably the plan

Seeing as VW will probably be the big competition for the Model 3 Tesla have just stolen their thunder.

I still hope the ID is launched properly, especially if UK and Ireland gets pricing. VW already said RHD and LHD would be announced at the same time. The UK market is huge for VW so getting the jump on Model 3 will help.

The question is, has Tesla launch of "cheap" Model 3 hit the reservations for ID.....

Doubt the model 3 has, if you read the full transcript there going online only shutting down all shops, losing money again this quarter and blaming it on selling the 35k model 3 which they haven't sold any of yet. I doubt VW is very worried.

I am not saying VW are worried....I think it does take some of the shine off what VW probably expected as the biggest launch at the Motor show, that is if they planned on bringing out Neo, you would hope as it ties in with timelines....

It could hurt reservations, let says 2 days ago if VW announced the reservations was open I would have gone and put my money down....now......ehhhhhhhh.....I would like to see what the Model 3 is coming in at :P:P:P:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I don’t think Geneva was on their mind. Bond repayments and a slow down in orders after milking the top tier models.

Isn't the ID.3 meant to launch in Frankfurt in September and not Geneva?

Starts production in late 2019....they have said about reservations in Q1 2019

If they reveal the car at Geneva then they could start taking reservations

Autogefühl takes a look at the VW ID Buggy

Looks great but not very practical in Ireland.

Lots of talk for months about it and VW said it is 70% ready....it will go into production but probably scaled a little back

It ain't aimed for Irish market

What market is it aimed for? A few bored Sheiks in the desert or rich surf kids in California? Not happening.

Agree it's a silly concept like most of VW groups offerings in Geneva

    That Skoda vision lol

    Like that's happening :)

Huge market, a huge section of the US would buy similar vehicles. The old Bettle got converted into buggies for year. Still can buy today

Of course Australia/Middle East etc.....limited in Europe of course but it does come with a rain cover type roof :-)

It's my understanding that the VW buggy concept is aimed at selling the MEB platform to non VAG manufacturers. Seems like they want to sell the EV skateboard to boutique manufacturers, to do this we'll probably see a few high priced VW retro models such as the Buggy and Buzz.

They have opened up the ID platform to other vendors to use

A variety of car photos from the show here (Warning: includes some gas-guzzlers! )

    This model caught my eye.
"The Piech Mark Zero electric car, which claims to be able to charge to 80% in five minutes and has 310 mile (500km) range. The company is fronted by the son of Ferdinand Piech, the former head of Volkswagen."

    Want!

Porsche would be proud of his grandson and great grandson who founded this new company together. He himself had a fully electric battery electric vehicle on the road in 1898.

It's the cells that are most impressive

    1000kW charging

    5 min charge

Supposedly LG chem acquired enevate cells
