Hi, would PP be required if I wished to move my driveway pillar resulting in the entrance widening by about 2ft.

It's a terraced house with perimeter wall facing out onto a public road in a housing estate.

The entire front is brick paved.

    Thanks,

I did this 2 years ago, didn’t get planning, didn’t think I needed to! Haven’t heard anything from anyone since so guess it’s ok?

Until you decide to sell and it could get flagged and delay the sale. If you don’t ever plan on selling then sleep easy :P

Jaysus I did not know this! Hopefully won’t be an issue when we do decide to sell.

As described above, when you go to sell you will have to regularise by way of a retention application.

This process takes about 16 weeks (time to prepare plans and notices/8 week decision time/ 4 week appeal period/ then final grant) so will hold up or loose a sale.

Absolute nightmare, I was told I didn’t need planning by the builder and stupidly I went with what he told me.

Oh well, cross that bridge when the time comes, thanks folks.

Retention planning can be sought surely?

And I could be wrong, but if something like this in place for years, it might be ok.

Every single house on my road has done this, and I have never seen a planning board up on any of them. Our driveway entrance was wide alright when bought, but it seems that a gate was removed in order to widen the entrance (by previous owners), never had a bother with the title, or planning when buying.

Yeah I figured if I had it done long enough it wouldn’t be an issue.

Sure we will see when I go to sell!

    All the best.

We will be taken out of here in a box, so I don't care, any issues after we go will be the executor's problem. :P
