    Hi all

I'm trying to fill out my medical expenses for 2018 on ros.ie. I have my p21.

When I go to hit submit it tells me We Cannot process your request as you were registered for income tax in 2018.

    Any ideas? Thanks

You were registered for Income Tax Sel Assessment so you must complete a Form 11 tax return. You cant get a P21 when registered for Income Tax.

Were you self employed or in receipt of rental income?

Nope, but my wife registered as self employed but did not earn anything in the end.

That's the reason. Once registered for income tax you have to make a eeturn regardless.

Make a nil return, include all PAYE income and health expenses on the return

Or send in a TRCN1 form, get the self assessment cancelled off your record. You will be able to get a P21 then should the cancellation date go back to say 2017

So if my wife does her form 11, I'm okay, right? I don't need to fill in anything?

Most likely you are jointly assessed so she will have yo declare your income on the Form.

You wont get a P21. Joint assessed notice of assessment will issue detailng any refund or liability
