Hi all, so when I took out my gearbox sent it off for a reconditioning I noticed lots oil around turbo closer inspection puddle of oil sitting in compressor side so I removed turbo and exhaust side is damp with oil too. It more than likely it was starved of oil because oil return pipe was 90% blocked with gunk. I have very few choices because of been so rare do I buy a second hand at 150 to 180 or new cartridge for 195 made buy melett?

    Good God, my eyes.

I'm guessing your asking about buying a new turbocharger?
    Always buy new.

What year is the car, wasn't there a recall for this?

I'd also agree a new part is better given the small price difference here.

Car is 2002 I'm trying to figure out will I go with genuine used part or new spurious part. Used genuine is 150 euro and new spurious is 195 just for the cartridge made by Melett in UK. Priced full turbo 1250 plus vat in motor factors.

What I mean is 195 cheap rubbish would I be better to go with genuine used

You'l get an exchange unit for a lot less than that new one and good quality too in my experience
