Large shed in garden - is planning possible?

    Hi all,

I am looking at buying houses at the moment. The current line of thinking is that I would buy a house with a good sized garden that would allow me to build a garage to store some classic cars.

I am looking at building a garage that would fit around 3 cars which means it is big enough to require planning permission. I am aware of the rules around how much of a green area must be left in the garden afterwards and the fact it may need to be designed in line with the house depending on the location within the site.

It's likely the house will be semi-detached or detached and it will be in a housing estate in a large town in Kildare or Meath. Is it possible I would be able to obtain planning permission for something like this or would I be better off looking at a secondary location for this instead?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

60m2 is the max size allowed for domestic. barely enough to fit one yank tank.

Will need a good sized back garden in a housing estate I would suggest. What kind of specs do you have in mind?

I think you will struggle to find this in an estate. Something out of town with a few old shreds around it might be more likely.

Where did you get this figure from?
