Tomcat starting fights

    Hi folks- In the past week a Tom cat has been hanging around spraying in our garden and starting fights with our neutered 11 year old usually docile male. We break them up before anyone is hurt and have a water bottle that we spray on the Tom but I'm just wondering if anyone has any clues on how to deter him from coming around? P.s. We haven't fed him so he doesn't have that incentive to hang around.

    Is he owned do you think? Perhaps find out who owns him and suggest neutering? Or if he's a stray it would make your life much easier if you would be kind enough to have him neutered. Would stop a lot of the aggression.

    First thing find out if he is owned.

    Get him neutered and it'll hopefully help reduce his desire to spray and fight with your cat, although that doesn't always reduce aggression especially with mature males. If he has an owner ask them to get it done.

    Another way to help would be to monitor the times he is around and if he is semi indoors only let your one out at the times he's not let out. Perhaps even having a word with his owner if any would help come to an arrangement.

    We were in a similar situation where we ended up taking in an aggressive male belonging to a neighbour who doesn't believe in neutering or looking after their cats, we also had him neutered. It was the only way to ensure his time outside was regulated to avoid him attacking some cats we rescued which are semi outdoor cats.
