Jetta tdi overfilled with oil

Had a nasty one in today 2011 jetta tdi overfilled with oil,not just by a few litres:eek::eek:.Put car up on ramp and removed sump plug and kept flowing and nearly filled a 10 kg bucket, cleaned out oil from turbo and lower intercooler pipes, oil can be seen from middle clamp of exhaust and dripping out of rear exhaust pipe.
Error codes show low pressure on fuel pump rail and glow plug issues on 3 and 4 cyl,car runs like crap with fumigating out the exhaust and banging from engine and engine feels like it wants to take off on revs and needs switching off.I think it might be a lost cause but maybe others can advise as possible too costly too repair as bucket looks like it still has maybe 8 litres in it so a 4ltr capacity with 12 litres:rolleyes:.
Cat and dpf must have too much oil flowing through it if coming out of exhaust.

Are you sure all that was oil? If cylinder 3 and 4 did not run properly it floods all the fuel to the sump.

Sounds like somebody attempted to do an oil change and forgot to drain the oil first before refilling! (Seen it before from a youtube qualified mechanic) or there's a massive injector leak of diesel into the sump. Either way sounds like the turbo seals have shat themselves due to high oil pressure caused by the overfill and the DPF wont be far behind. Is it miss firing? Is the drained engine oil full of diesel?

Not 100% sure but he says he saw a warning sign ? could be the usual oil maintence due and he thought he needed oil,it said glow plugs 3 and 4 nothing about injectors. He has not said how much oil though.I have been told there are a crap engine with issue the 1.6 lol.

Yes spluttering and banging thinking if all that is gone and needing a full exhaust due to loads of oil in it,i did drill a hole in back box and got a nice patch of oil on the ground re possible fire hazzard.
Dam not checked the oil in bucket to see what it is so unsure?

If the oil is not contaminated with diesel somebody has clearly over filled it with oil.... i'd be draining as much oil as i can out of the system as i can in the morning, exhaust, DPF, intercooler, air box ect, check the oil filter housing for filings fill her up to the level with oil, give it a start and see if it clears itself.... You never know... Customer might get away light!

Put 4 ltr of oil in after cleaning ,airbox and filter dry ,slight oil in intercooler pipes drained, had car running 6 or 7 times and had to switch off as its starting to take off as revs went to 3000.

Intercooler itself drained? Hard to know without seeing it but sounds like turbo is goosed.

Pipe on intercooler only had a few drips but on far side i got more so thought if it was full more would come out, other vw cars when front of car was been removed i have got a good cup full out of these .Maybe if i run it long enough turbo will suck all oil of sump and car seizes job done.

You may take out the intercooler and drain it if your going to replace the turbo anyway. could have had an hydraulic lock also and bent a conrod.... Oh the possibilites of the damage are endless really!

If the customer wants rid of it drop me a pm...

Out of curiosity is it the BXE engine??

No cayc i think 1.6tdi and bucket was thick oil not pissy water as if diesel got into to it as stick a screwdriver in oil it sticks to it,customer got car towed away as unsure what to do as he only does short runs, next car a petrol one.

Good for your business because you can see that new petrol car soon. The short runs really kills the engine. Electric or hybrid are more suitable for that purpose.

Sounds like a runaway diesel, engine oil getting into the cylinders. Rings must be damaged due to too much oil in engine.
