    Hi,

We currently have a HKC alarm, and from looking at the label on the PCB in the main box it is a sw1070. I was curious in the best option for upgrading this or if that is even possible. Is there a module I can buy for this to allow app integration or do I need a new board for that? Any idea on costs?
I have recently installed some remote control of other devices in the house using sonoff products and this got me thinking on the alarm.

    Thanks

The 1070 is a relatively new panel & is capable of app control with additional equipment, so no need to upgrade. It is one of the ones that comes with annual or monthly charges.

I was on the HKC site there and see a LAN card is an option. I could probably drop a network cable to that panel handy enough. If I have that is it then a subscription service? Our home is very rarely empty so remote control is just a nice to have and if it meant spending a few quid on a network card and using our existing internet I would consider it.

The HKC service is still a subscription even if using your own path.
They have a dual card which connects to both GSM network and wifi in your home.

I have sw1070 hkc panel and I currently has a sim card board on it.

TThe panel still is in perfect condition and working order.

I was wondering is it possible to still buy a board that could work with wifi to enable remote operation or would a change of panel be the only alternative.

AAng advice would be greatly appreciated.

The panel software can be upgraded to use the 4G GSM/WIFI to allow remote access and alarm activations to the app so no need to change the panel.

HKC do charge a fee for the app.

You would need to contact an installer for the upgrade, if you wanted to do same.

Hey Altor, can I ask a few things 🙂

    1. All the HKC documentation says the gsm wifi card will work on the 10270 panel but none mention the 1070 (which I have). Is it known in your circles that the card can also work on 1070 once the software is up to scratch?
    2. I just need the GSM as alarm is basic. It that possible with a 4g sim?
    3. Is there an easy way to check the firmware version and if i need an installer to upgrade software am I looking at a couple of hundred euro?

    Thanks!

Yes, the card will work on either the older 1070 or the 10270 once the software is up to date.

Again, if the software is up to the latest version then the G4/Wifi card will work.

In engineer mode you can check system version.

Thanks Altor, just realised I actually have the older 6/10 panel instead. If upgrading, what system would recommend? I want the ability to turn on and off the alarm remotely without expensive subscriptions and after that just need an reliable alarm where i don’t need to replace sensor batteries every other year. Thanks!

No, it wont work with the older 6/10 panel.

You could upgrade to the latest panel 10270 and then add the remote access to that.

You would be using all the devices that you have in place but also have the ability to add wire free devices if ever needed.
