VHI - EXCESS

Hi can someone tell me if i am right in this - is the benefit excess on a VHI policy 50% of your total bill for one member?....for example if my gp costs for 1 year come to E200 than i calculate that to E100 which is just the excess so no benefit payable in that case.

It seems a bit "Irish" to me that they can calculate 50% of your total costs and then if you have anything to claim that they then calculate 50% of that as well.

Maybe i am reading it wrong?
