    Hi
I am buying a new van and the garage quoted 600 to put a hitch on it.
Just wondering is there any decent places around kildare /Dublin that install for better price.
    Thanks

That's a pretty reasonable price believe it or not, especially for a garage! Give Malcolm's Towbars a ring for a quote. They're very popular and do good work. Towing Equipment.ie are also very good.

    Try McCabes towbars also.
Never used them myself, but a couple of family members have, and they seem to be good, with agents for fitting in the area shown here

Be careful that you do not void your warranty on the van by installing a non OE tow bar.

Very good thanks. Never even thought of it causing warranty problems

For a Passat estate tow-hitch and lighting 2 years ago.

Apparently towbar companies have to install lighting as well as the tow-bar as one job. The tow-bar must be of approved standard and will be subject to inspection and testing if your vehicle is subject to NCT testing. IF commercial then Roadworthiness testing applies which is a completely different ballgame.

I notice a lot of vans and lorries going about with broken or battered sockets so that testing of these towing sockets must not be too rigorous.

Santry. Did my towbar job two years ago and did a satisfactory job.

Got a towbar for my CRV about half year ago from this crowd: https://www.dobrehaki.pl/

Cost about €120 including postage to Ireland and included wiring kit.

I installed it myself. Took about 8 hours with no previous experience, and just basic tools.

    I wouldn't fork out €600...
