Economical Crossover

So after alot of considerations I decided to keep Miss Shefwedfan car but was then told in no uncertain terms it was too go and fairly quickly

Current car is Galaxy/Transit and currently literally driving the Misses around the bend and I hate it so it is au revoir...

Requirements are simple it would seem. Decent sized boot and economical. Current transit goes from about 8-9ltr/100km...2ltr auto diesel....driving does not suit diesel at all, loads and loads of short trips or sitting in traffic in Dublin....

Test drove the new RAV4 today and was impressed with the size of the boot and the interior compared to older model but would be concerned about MPG on them....

Just wonderingn what other options? Qashqai/Kadjar would all be too small from a boot point of view....

Would I go diesel again? maybe if the only option available for what I am looking for....

Probably a 1.5 dci unit with edc transmission is going to be most economical combination mpg wise(excluding electric and small hybrids).

Psa group's 1.6 hdi + eat6 combination is not bad for a torque converter too.

Is mpg so important if it is just for the short trips though ?

16+ picasso/grandpicasso does feel like a car than a van if that is what you are looking for with big enough boot with 5 full seats. And still shorter than smax/galaxy.

It is short trips but loads of them, we put 20k miles on the transit last year and a hell of a lot of fuel.

We want to change but need to keep that height, hence why going with Crossover....

If we could bring the ltr/100km down as well it would be perfect

Hybrid would suit so Toyota may be a good option.

The Prius+ is quite small though, smaller than a Verso.

What about one of those electric Nissan Vanettes?

If a BEV was available that would suit I would buy straight away. The e-NV200 doesn't offer enough range as we do long trips to UK so we would need a large 60kWh+ battery.

The Prius+ is a hell of a lot of money for a car that hasn't been updated since 2010, ok a few changes in the interior but nothing major

The RAV is the same price more or less

I should have mentioned the Outlander, if going the RAV I will be going new and PCP so that is why I didn't mention...

The Outlander new is not an option because of the depreciation on them.....

    Ms

Honda CRV which is hyprid now or a Kia Sportage which has recently had a revamp and has a new 16 crdi engine that is one of the best in its class. I actually think the Sportage is better looking than the Tucson now since Hyundai revamped the Tucson. I do not like the new grill or dash. Don't get why so many people buy them over the Sportage. Saying that I preferred the front of the Sportage before the revamp but the interior and the rear design is much better than before. The rear lights a very neat now too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
