No they won't work for the problem you have. Don't know what shower you have. But sounds like the basin and the shower are off let's say the same pipes. Best way to solve this is run seperate pipes to the shower so no reduction in flow too it.

Thanks, as you say the shower and taps are on the same line.

If I run a cold feed from the tank in the attic for the cold shower outlet and also a hot water feed from the hot water tank in the hot press.

I'm not sure where to tap off on the hot water cylinder in the hotpress for the hot water feed.

There's a pump in the hotpress which the shower and taps run off

When someone turns on a tap the shower gets very hot. If i place return valves on each shower pipe, hot and cold pipe, will this resolve the problem.

Someone installed a manual shower where a thermostatic shower should have been installed.

As a simple workaround, you could try capping the flow of cold water that can exit through the sink tap by installing an isolation valve on it's feed under the sink and throttling it back to the minimum acceptable flow. To further help you could cap the amount of hot flowing to the shower too. This way you'd achieve a better balance when the sink tap is opened (by maintaining more cold/less hot to the shower).

I capped the hot and cold in the kitchen due to the wife propensity to wash things with a constant blast of hot water. By capping there's still plenty for that function, without blasting it down the sinkhole :)
