Hi all quick question neighbour asked me this as he is having constant trouble with Led floodlights with built in pir units.

His 30w pir fitting is mounted under the soffitt on a normal two storey house is that too high up he is wondering as after maybe 6-8 months they just constantly fail on him usually staying on all the time during the night and annoying the other neighbour on the other side of him.

    Many thanks guys as always
    Dash

If it is a cheap generic Chinese floodlight then the sensors fail. They are not waterproof at all and if not protected by soffit etc. tend to fill up with water and corrode very quickly.
You can easily get a much better sensor and wire it into the lamp. Cost about 10 euro
Quite quickly the lamp aluminium shell breaks down with corrosion also especially near the coast.
