    Hi all,
My wife is looking to sign up for these classes within walking distance of the city centre. Can anyone recommend something?

    Hi FutureGuy,

One gym that would teach a practical, useful form of martial art that is great for self defence is Limerick BJJ Academy. It has mixed classes, so not specifically 'Ladies Self Defence', but would definitely teach you how to defend yourself. Link: https://limerickbjjacademy.com/contact/

Another place where you would learn how to defend yourself practically would be in an MMA gym - most people who practice are hobbyists, not everyone is a competitor, but if you wanted to learn how to actually handle yourself in a dodgy situation you can't do better than MMA. https://www.facebook.com/sharkbait.mma.9/

Both places are right in the city centre - I would reccomend that your wife pop into any of these gyms when a class is on, and have a look, and see if she would get on there.

I have no experience with limericks boxing clubs, but learning to box is also probably one of the best forms of self defence there is.
