Male with no apparent ailments but Planning on getting bloods done , any recommendations for capable Doctor in South City centre that wont fleece a average PAYE earner?
PS like many middle income earners I haven't gone to Doctor in years primarily because of the cost

It's sad that this guy works and pays his way but can't afford to regularly attend a doctor.

    It's a crazy country.

The squeezed middle is a very real thing. Pay for everything, entitled to nothing.

The system is not right but I think he can afford €50-60 every few years to go to a GP. 20% can be claimed back on medical expenses on tax return too.

To be honest unless I'm very ill I wouldn't go to the doctor due to cost. I would have got bloods sooner or more regularly if I didn't have mortgage, kids schooling, kids cloths etc.....

Where as if I never worked I could go to doctor quite regular for tests without having to worry about the cost..surely those on the dole should be charged a tenner??

He can obviously well afford a doctors visit if he's middle income .
Spends his cash in other areas.

I'm agreeing with you the system is wrong. Completely wrong.

Universal Health Care like they have in The Netherlands is the way to go, it was an Fine Gael policy but they haven't delivered.

We all have bills to pay etc and I do struggle to believe you can't pay around 50 quid to get bloods done.

Complaining about other people getting it for free is just sour grapes as they earn less than you do.

Try donating blood, maybe they'll give you a free screening :pac:

Alternatively, if you have private health insurance, eg. from your company, they may have cheap ways to get screenings.
In the long run, private health insurers are happy to catch things earlier when it's cheaper to fix.

Correct.. the original post, in my opinion, was rather a poorly disguised attempt to snipe at people with medical catds.
