    Hi,

I’m building a new home & electrical work will be carried out by registered electrician & certified.

I also want to install some Ethernet cable cat6/cat6a which is low voltage and not connected directly to mains - only via plugged in appliance (router/tv/laptop).

I have the technical expertise/experience to setup an Ethernet network, but must this be certified for my home ?

    Thank you

    Doesn't need to be certified.

    Doesn't need to be certified.

Thank you, that’s what I would expect, but don’t see any mention of Ethernet/low voltage it at safeelectric.ie . I’ve also contacted them for an official response.

I intend to use conduit in masonry walls, RJ45 sockets etc. - ie a permanent home network.

It would be great if anyone can speak authoritively on this or point me to relevant documentation.
