Eye Masks - do they make dark circles worse?

Has anyone else used a brightening eye mask and found that while it worked that day it made darks circles worse the following days? I used the Garnier Vitmain C eye mask and it definitely brightened up my eyes, I thought it was excellent, but now three days later my dark circles are much worse. It could be a coincidence…
