Mad to spend 10k on a SAAB?

Hi All, the recent Saab tread got me thinking.... would I be mad to look at spending 10k on a Saab? Lot of car for the money relative to alternatives....

    http://www.carsireland.ie/2005559

I’d be keeping for a few years and imagine resale would be the main problem. Thoughts?

Yes. Sorry but the 93 makes a great 5 grand car, but for 10 grand you can get a lot more modern stuff. It was launched 17 years ago.

Is that not a seriously optimistic price from the dealer too?

Actually looks like Brogan Motors is trying to monopolise the late model SAAB market!

It's a lovely car with low miles and only a few owners, but wouldn't pay more than 5 for it..

I've seen ads for that dealer before and felt their prices where rather on the high side.

Don't take a price from one dealer as being the market. If you've an interest in a car, look around to see what's available.

The 2l turbo petrol is a nice drive. I had a 1.8 without turbo.

Plenty of cabin room in them. Dont recall the boot being as big as it looked to be though.

There's a few oddities with it though. Be sure to have a good look around it, to see if it'll fit your needs.

Thanks Colm. That was a concern too but I was prob overlooking it as I actually like the design. (Although when I see ‘17 years’ written like that, yes, I’d be mad!)

Yes, maybe a bangernomics Saab is a better bet. Thanks for your input

My brother has an 07 9-3, 2.0l Turbo, lovely car to drive and has been very reliable. Very comfortable for long journeys.
He paid just under 10k i think in 2011 (3-4 years old). As nice as it is, paying that amount now for one thats 8 years old would be insane in my view.

    Yeah, way too much.
I paid €6K for my 07 1.8t with 8K miles on it about 3 years ago.
Heated seats, steptronic, paddleshift, half leather ivory seats.
The lighter coloured seats do appeal to me rather than black.

    Definitely better bargains around.
    Keep searching!

I'm a Saab fanboy and I'd never pay more then 4-5k for any Saab! The whole point of buying them is that for very little money you get a really nicely specc'd car.
Paying 10K for that is madness, the car is never worth that. Other people already have put up donedeal links to similar cars for 5k, that's what this one is worth

    I'd agree, overpriced.

I would however accept paying a slight premium to buy from that garage if you're serious about Saabs. I drive by it occasionally and they have very much been focused on Saabs over the last few years with little else. They have now drifted to Volvos. Their cars are kept pristine and seem to always have very nice models.

That being said, here's another 2011 model. But notice the difference in the interior. My guess, it is the last model produced.

Looks really good and low enough mileage if you're prepared to spend €10K.

That’s the 95 rather than the 93. It’s based on the Insignia.

Another Saab fan here and agree that is mad money. They are a lovely car to drive but that price is pure laughable. Come to think of it, those 93's in Brogans have been up for sale for a long time now.
