New Receiver v Old Receiver

Ok I have an old Yamaha receiver

    YAMAHA RXV359 AV RECEIVER TITANIUM

    https://www.hifix.co.uk/yamaha-rxv359-av-receiver-titanium

It does not have hdmi output and has optical cable for sound

Was looking at replacing it with

    Pioneer VSX-531

    https://www.richersounds.com/pioneer-vsx531-black-sos.html

I use it for the TV and have surround sound speakers and Yamaha woofer

At the moment I have a hdmi switcher that I use so optical cable goes into that from the receiver into the switcher and then hdmi cable from switcher to TV. Also have Virgin box and Nvidia shield going into the switcher so that I can switch between different sources

So I just want to reduce the amount of wires but still want to link up the wired woofer and wired speakers.

Is it worth it getting this or would there be much difference esp with sound quality
